I like to source local wood whenever I can. I'm not sure exactly where this walnut came from, but the odds of it growing within Multnomah county are fairly high. Either way, it's fun to know that you're working with lumber that came from your state. Grain matched walnut with maple splines and a black and white photograph by Garrett Riha make for a gallery style, timeless look.
