ARCHITECTURE / DESIGN

Ment

Put to paper by the team at Ment Architecture, this full gut mid-century remodel was helmed by Durham Construction. The entryway was relocated, three new bathrooms were added, the kitchen was blown wide open and brought into the 21st century. The central stairwell was meticulously thought through, serving as the centerpiece to the home.

While we completed the base and some of the paint grade trim scope, we were engaged largely to solve the problem of how to build out the stairwell and the two story screen wall that cascades throughout it. Rift and quartersawn white oak pickets serve as the main feature, and were installed entirely without a single visible fastener. We custom milled some stair components, and installed engineered flooring on the landings to tie it all together.
